"It shows that even in a spiritual country such as India people still can lack human kindness and become savages in a certain situations and the right pressure.

I think India is far from spiritual. Its masses of uneducated citizens know nothing more than the traditions passed down to them. Perhaps, in that sense, it appears to outsiders to be spiritual because of the prevalence of religions temples and icons. But, Hinduism is anything but kind with its built-in caste system.

More than anything, the video shows the effects of poor education and experience outside of one's own culture.

As for people becoming savages, I would agree. All of us have the potential to become savages. But for educated people, it takes extreme and dire circumstances like starvation or the threat of harm and death - not things like witchcraft.

..."Likewise, the group took up the opportunity to take out their trouble and frustration on a stranger who became the symbol of their lowly condition"...

What I see here is our sad weakness as humans: Most of the times, when things go wrong, we do not want to be responsable for our own choices and acts. We prefer to put in the "outside" the responsability and the consequences.

Zvi, what you call "non-human" is sadly all too human. But I hear what you are saying. It is an important point.
